The 4th Ghana Entertainment Awards USA marks its return from a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The award scheme is aimed at projecting the achievements of Ghanaian creatives and entertainers excelling in various crafts in and outside Ghana.
The event also uses the platform to celebrate and promote Ghanaian talents. This years edition took place at the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center in New York.
Buzzing Ghanaian musician, Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kweku Frimpong, better known by his stage name, Black Sherif bagged an award for the Discovery Of The Year. He beat Nanky, Tripcy, Jay Bhad, Talaat Yaaky, Kawabanga and Chief One to win the coveted prize.
Black Sherif is a multifaceted act with a unique approach to making music. He gained mainstream acclaim with his street anthem “first Sermon”. He’s also known for songs such as, ‘Second Sermon’ and ‘Kweku The Traveller’.
